This is the "SLUG"

oregon state university honors college | july 2017

the Honors College at Oregon State University has a student body of some 1,400 students. a prestigious -- but not pretentious -- college, one of the perks of being a Honors College student is exclusive access to the Honors College Study Lounge, located in one of the newest, state-of-the art buildings on the Oregon State University campus.

around the time the Honors College first came to be in the late '90s, the lounge was located at the basement level of an older building on campus and soon adopted the nickname "Students Learning Underground," or SLUG for short.

though the lounge today is located above the ground, the colloquial name stuck. in addition to providing a study space for students, the SLUG also offers other amenities such as the widely-known complimentary printing. however, not all of these amenities are widely known by all students.

i was tasked with the challenge of coming up with signage welcoming Honors College students to the SLUG, as well as designing a bookmark communicating these perks.

The final product: the SLUG welcome signage.

The SLUG welcome signage, ready to welcome HC students. Note the hand-drawn "to the SLUG" -- i had wanted to convey a personalized touch to the welcome.
